Prepositions of place

Exclusive
Time 60-90 min
Type Standard
Level Beginner

Overview

This beginner-level (A1) lesson is based on the concept of a local community noticeboard. Through exploring these snippets, students learn essential town centre vocabulary and practice using prepositions of place (in, on, under, next to, and between) to describe the locations of public services, and buildings.

During the lesson, your students will develop their reading comprehension skills and express their opinions about their town. They will also participate in a variety of interactive speaking and writing tasks, including matching prepositions to a diagram and describing the locations of different places on a map.

Our standard lessons follow a consistent six-stage flow: warm-up, a presentation based on real content (video, text or images), a contextual language focus stage, controlled practice, a free practice session, and a final homework task.

Each lesson includes a printable student worksheet and teacher’s guide with answer keys. For digital classrooms, we provide an editable Google Slides e-lesson, that is also compatible with PowerPoint.
