Expressing quantities
Overview
In this intermediate ESL lesson, students will review the common quantifiers in English, such as lots of, many, much, a few, and a little. The aim is to reinforce their understanding of using these to express quantities accurately, with a particular focus on the negative forms.
The lesson plan introduces these quantifiers through a simple boardwork example, which sets a clear foundation for the lesson. Students will then participate in several classroom activities, which include reviewing food-related vocabulary and conducting interviews with classmates about their eating habits. To wrap up the session, we've included a fun idea for a classroom game to help reinforce the key learning points.

Food categories
The students will first review food-related vocabulary before sorting them into their correct classification: countable or uncountable.

Eating habits
For this speaking activity, students are going to interview a partner about their diet.

Healthy or unhealthy?
A follow-on speaking activity where students talk about what they have learned about their partner's diet.

Classroom games
