Vocabulary and speaking
Overview
In this advanced ESL lesson, students will take a closer look at the topic of news media, exploring a range of advanced-level vocabulary and associated concepts. This session aims to improve their ability to discuss current events and express their opinions on the role of news media in society.
The lesson plan includes a boardwork activity, highlighting one way to kick off a discussion on this topic and review some new vocabulary. Students will then engage in several low-resource classroom activities, where they will discuss and offer opinions on current events and the role of media in shaping public perception. To wrap things up, students will play a fun group game that introduces them to some news-themed idiomatic language.
