Have got
Overview
In this lesson, we introduce the students to the two-part verb form have got, which is a common and useful expression in English. Learning the conjugations of have got will give students more flexibility in expressing possession and characteristics.
It begins with a couple of warm-up activities that act as a bridge from previous lessons to this one. For those who value visual aids, we've provided notes on suggested boardwork that show one way to cover the conjugations of have got with your students. The lesson then incorporates several low-resource ESL classroom activities where students practice forming statements using have got. To further instil these new concepts, we've included a suggested homework task where the students produce a paragraph of writing. As with every lesson, we conclude with an engaging classroom game that provides further practice of the lesson's target language.
