There’s no place like home
Rooms & furniture (There is/are)
Overview
In this beginner-level lesson, students will learn how to describe the layout of a home and the furniture found in each room. They will focus on mastering the structural differences between singular and plural forms using there's and there are, along with the negative expressions like there isn't a and there aren't any.
The lesson is based on an authentic video tour of a ground-floor city apartment where a host introduces their living space. After analyzing these real-world examples, students will complete controlled practice tasks including gap-fill dialogues and a couple of image-based tasks. The lesson wraps up with a speaking activity about their dream home and a reflective writing assignment about their own house.
