Debate and discussion
Overview
In this third lesson on business for advanced ESL students, we're shifting gears to focus on debating skills. The group will engage in discussions around controversial topics in business and advertising. This session aims to develop students' abilities to articulate and defend their viewpoints, challenge opposing arguments, and effectively employ persuasive language.
We start with a warmer based on the homework from the previous lesson. The boardwork activity will lay the groundwork for the debate, activating topical vocabulary and concepts. Then, students will debate a series of thought-provoking statements related to business. To conclude, we'll play a fun group game where the students will learn some useful business-themed idioms.
